Sterling Kent Davis passed peacefully from this mortal existence at home surrounded by his loving family, into the presence of the God who created him on September 8, 2012. Kent and his twin sister, Kathy, were born August 23, 1947 in Logan, Utah to Sterling and Joyce (Webster) Davis. After living in many cities throughout the west they located to Riverside where Kent spent the next 47 years of his life.
He married Barbara Schaack March 21, 1970 in the Los Angeles Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They were blessed with two children, a son in October 1980, Roger Sterling and a daughter in April 1982, Rachel Kristine. In 1981 he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. He was a stellar athlete and an avid golfer so this was a difficult diagnosis but he accepted it with grace and courage. He never gave into it and was still working and serving until a few months ago though it robbed him of his mobility after twenty years. He had a deep faith that allowed him to smile through the rain. Kent graduated from California State University, San Bernardino in 1973 with a BS in Marketing and followed that up with another year of post graduate work in accounting. Kent's dream job was to become a golf pro but he settled into an accounting career. He worked as the controller for Audio Graphic Systems in San Bernardino for 16 years and when the company was sold he went to work for WSR Property Management as the Controller for their HOAs.
Kent was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all his life. He served a full-time mission to the East Central States from 1966 to 1968, and continued to serve in the church throughout his life. He served as Jurupa Stake Patriarch from October 2002 until his death. He endured to the end in the service of God.
Kent is survived by his wife of 42 years, Barbara; his children Roger and his grandson Mason; his daughter Rachel (Rudy) and their son Noah Sterling; his sisters, Kathy Allen (Robin), and Shauna Tyler (Dennis); his brothers Rodney (Pam) and Roger (Kim) 28 nieces and nephews and his dear father, Sterling Davis. His mother predeceased him in 2001.
Kent was a friend to all. He was a kind and caring man who loved deeply, cherished his family and friends and never spoke ill of anyone. Above all, he loved God and lived his prime directive to love and serve his fellow man. We will all miss his gentle ways.
Services were held on Friday, September 14 at the Jurupa Stake Center in Riverside with interment in Crestlawn Memorial Park in Riverside.
