Ellen Marie Cahill-Gomieo (nee Franko), 51, of Twentynine Palms, California, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2013 at home with her husband, daughter, son, grandson, sisters and family pets, after a long battle with cancer and living many years with Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Ellen was born on December 7, 1961, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Joseph John Franko and Betty Alice Franko (nee Brown). She graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School in 1980 and continued her education at District One Technical Institute. In 1983, Ellie entered the United States Marine Corps, where she served at Camp Pendleton and Twentynine Palms, California Marine Corps bases for 6 years. While serving at Twentynine Palms, Ellie met the love of her life, Timothy P. Gomieo. Tim and Ellie were married on December 31, 1993 and are the proud parents of Catherine A. Cahill and Nicholas J. Gomieo. Ellie also worked for the Morongo Unified School District for 12 years.
Ellie is survived by her husband Tim, her children, Catherine (Shawn Spruth) and Nicholas, the joy of her life, grandson Cash N. Spruth, family pets Jasper and Sawyer, her mother, Betty A. Franko (Eau Claire), brothers Dennis S. Franko (Ghislaine) of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and David M. Franko (Barb) of Fall Creek, Wisconsin, and sister, Beth A. Franko Wegner (Ed) of Pekin, Illinois. She was survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many wonderful friends who she considered her second family. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph, Uncle Reuben C. Brown (aka Uncle Roo-Roo), and her family pets Shelby Sue and Sylvester.
Ellie was a strong, passionate, and inspirational woman to everyone who knew her. Despite the struggles she faced, she was always happy and lived life to the fullest. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She was proud to see her children succeed, enjoyed watching soap operas and all her favorite television shows, loved holding her grandson, and always referred to her husband as "her rock."
Tim, Catey, and Nick would like to thank everyone who has shown their love and support to their family through all the years.
We will be having a celebration of life for Ellie at Knotts Sky Park on Saturday, May 11, 2013 from 12-4 in Twentynine Palms, California. We will also have a celebration of life in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, which will be announced at a later time.
