OBITUARY OF BARBARA M. CONNEL
Our mother was a wonderful and loving person. She was a very generous person and had no enemies. She was the church organist at the Seventh-day Adventist churches in Colton, Indio, and Palm Desert for 50 years. She taught piano lessons and played the violin too.
She was born Barbara Maurine Follett in Liberal, Kansas on February 24, 1929. Her parents' names were Dewey E. Follett and Esther Grace Follett and her brother was Elder Philip S. Follett. She attended La Sierra College in La Sierra, CA and she met our father, Nollie N. Connel there. They were married on June 26, 1949 and celebrated 55 years together.
She grew up in a loving and religious household. She loved animals especially Persian cats and Pekingese dogs.
She worked in title and escrow for 50 years. Previously, she worked as the CEO's executive secretary at Pioneer Title Company in San Bernardino, for 7 years when she was 20 years old. She worked at First American Title Company in Riverside as a title assistant for 14 years and then later on she worked for General Escrow, Chicago Title Escrow and Dixie Escrow.
She was a wonderful mother to us. She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen J. Connel-Lance and Doris Elaine Henderson of Palm Desert, CA. Her granddaughter is Krystal F. Sae Eua and her grandson-in-law Matthew Newhart from North Hollywood, CA.
She will be greatly missed by her family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Palm Desert Oasis Seventh-day Adventist Church at 74-200 Country Club Drive, Palm Desert, CA across the street from the Marriott Desert Springs Resort. The viewing will commence at 2:00 pm and the services will begin at 3:00 pm. On July 29, 2013.
