Nina Mandala peacefully passed away at her home on November 28, 2019, Thanksgiving Day, surrounded by her family and her faith. She was 102 years old. She was the family's guiding light and will be deeply missed.

She was born Antonina Borgia on January 30, 1917 in Piana degli Albanesi, Sicily. At the age of fourteen, she immigrated to America with her family and they settled in Los Angeles. She soon met Sam Mandala and they were married four years later. They moved to Rancho Cucamonga where her husband co-owned and managed the Mandala Brothers Vineyards and Winery. Together with her husband they built a successful grape growing business, several enterprises and real estate investments.

Nina moved to Palm Desert in 1991 to be close to her sons, Chuck and Frank, who had continued the family tradition of grape growing and farming in the Coachella Valley. She lived in Palm Desert for a total of 28 years. Nina loved to cook and entertain and often had dinner parties for twenty five. She loved all holidays and had a deep love for her family. She was very active into her mid 90's and mentally sharp up until her last hours. She was beautiful, energetic and full of optimism. She had a firm belief in God and prayed the rosary daily. She was predeceased by her husband Sam Mandala, son Chuck Mandala and grandson Dean Mandala.

She is survived by her son Frank Mandala of Palm Desert; two daughters, Rosalie Mandala of Newport Beach, and Julie Lubke of Santa Fe, NM; two granddaughters, Nina and Dana; great grandsonTaylor and great granddaughter Abree.
