Alvaro Soliz, age 70, passed away in the comfort and privacy of his home in Thousand Palms, CA on the 9th of January 2014. Dad was cared for and surrounded by his family at the time of his passing, and will be greatly missed every day.
Born June 26th 1943 in Hebbronville, TX, he grew up in Texas and while in his youth moved to California. He finally settled here in the Coachella Valley and made a home and family with his love of 42 years Mary (Mercado) Soliz.
Alvaro and Mary were always a team and did everything opposite of what tradition says, which allowed him to be a stay at home dad to his two girls Anna and Christina, he tried to be strict but ended spoiling his daughters, giving them everything he could. Dad was completely devoted to mom and they would spend all their time together whether it was doing home improvement projects, gardening, going segundas and swap meets, or just enjoying life with their grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Mary Soliz (Thousand Palms) two daughters and sons-in-laws Anna Soliz & German(Bermuda Dunes) and Christina Soliz & Raphael (Cathedral City), his six grandchildren, Ericka, Julian, Alicia, Cesar, Erin Alexis and Angela, brothers, Rubin Soliz of Quemado, TX, Ramiro (and wife Julie) Soliz of Fresno, CA; sisters, Linda Soliz of Fresno, CA, and Juanita Soliz Rodriguez of Indio, CA, his sisters-in-laws Carmela Mercado, Susie Brubach and brothers-in-laws Eddie Santistevan and Carlos Mercado and all his nephews and nieces. Alvaro was preceded in death by his parents, Cipriano & Ida Soliz; sisters Felipa, Diane and brothers Rene, Gilbert, Cipriano Jr.(Gordo), and Hector.
Visitation will be from 11am to 2pm with services from 2pm to 3pm on 16th of January, Thursday at Rose Mortuary and Crematory 66424 Pierson Blvd, Desert Hot Springs, CA.
Relatives and friends are welcome to the home of Anna Soliz and German Bojorquez at 40-995 Adams Street, Bermuda Dunes, CA after the service.
