Tribute & Message From The Family

William E. Townsend, age 84, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on April 18, 2015 as a result of a long struggle with Dementia complicated by Parkinsons. His family was by his side at home in Desert Hot Springs, CA when he gave his last breath while listening to his early morning jazz music. William was born to Inez Hall and Ervin Townsend of Kokomo, Indiana on January 23, 1931. He served active duty in Korea for three years in the army. He then worked for the US Postal Service as postmaster until his retirement at age 62.
William loved jazz music, eating dried peaches, had a vivacious sense of humor and was an avid baseball fan. He volunteered his time to various charitable organizations, to the Catholic Church, and volunteered as a policemen for the Oceanside Police Department during his retirement.
He is survived by his four daughters Monica Bouveret, Michelle Townsend, Robin Hookway and Beth Townsend, and his two grandchildren Keelan Bouveret and Lennon Hookway. William is also survived by his two sisters Dolores Dixon and Carolyn Carter and his younger brother Michael Townsend, as well as several loving cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

A memorial service with full military honors will be held in William's honor at the Riverside National Cemetery – Stage Area 2 on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 2:15pm. He requested to be cremated which is being handled by Rose Mortuary of Desert Hot Springs, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation. Bill was like a father to me. I am glad to know that he is no longer suffering and was surrounded by loved ones as he passed. He was a gentle, loving man and I am blessed to have known him.
